"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” - Buscaglia

| typical morning sandwich |
here are a few things i have made recently. i am really enjoying cooking. it is cheaper and healthier than going out to eat for every meal. even though i run more miles every week than i drive, it is still good to be contentious of fat content. not that i am paranoid or strict about eating or not eating, i just want to make sure i put the very best fuel into my body that way i can get the very best performance. i feel that my days go better when i eat properly and when i eat enough. also, water is so important. when i don't get enough water, i feel like crawling in a hole and dying or i feel like going on a killing spree because my head is pounding. both options are terrible and unproductive.

let's talk about poop. seriously. you might not want to but we should. it's important. if you aren't pooping every day, you are probably: eating too much fat, not drinking enough water, not taking in as much fiber (fruits, veggies, FIBER ONE! products) as you should, or you are eating at odd hours which confuses your body.
pooping is one of the many highlights of my day, if i am to be real with you people. and i know i am not alone on this. my team and i talk about our defications as if they are our best friends. its only natural, ok, maybe it isn't, but it should be. especially when you are spending nearly 2-3 times in the baƱo for extended periods of time. i don't know about you personally, but i look forward to eating my meals because that means in twenty minutes a huge smile is going to be found on my face. i guess this is just a heads up for those of you who aren't pooping or who aren't satisfied with their business. oh, liquid iron makes for a really nice time. if you have been having trouble, don't eat as much bread, instead, eat a piece of fruit. instead of having a candy bar, eat a chocolate covered fiber one! bar. instead of having extra helping of meat and potatoes, have a crunchy vegetable. and instead of going back for seconds, wait ten minutes and see if you are REALLY hungry, or if you are just eating out of bordem, lonliness, or selfishness. you will start to feel better in no time. i promise.
my runs have been going so well this week. we are averaging 7:10-7:15 per mile everyday. usually the second half is faster than the first and we usually dip below 7 min for the last mile or two. i like finishing my runs with the second half faster, it makes me feel strong and i know it will get me through my mid-season slump faster (once it hits). today i ran "campus 5" and then added 1.5 miles. yesterday we ran north farm. luckily it wasn't as muddy. surprisingly the ground was still soft.
it started raining/abrupt downpour at about 4.5 miles. it was a nice suprise and the rain mixed with the pavement heat created for a one of a kind aroma that only runners can be friends with. it was a quick tease of a rain. a rainbow could be seen and it went all the way down to the ground. i think i was the most excited to see a rainbow. i become like a child when i see rainbows. something about them makes me feel safe and happy.
class got cancelled.

to burn the bra or not to burn?

| me and dad: we can't help ourselves |
simone went home to spend father's day with her dad. tomorrow we are running the refuge and loren is finally here to run with us this weekend! we have a hot date tonight, i can't wait. i have missed loren so much. she is my best friend and i am looking forward to next year when we actually have lives again to hang out.
IT'S FRIDAY FRIDAY!!! GETTIN' DOWN ON FRIDAY!
as i was leaving the apartment to head to class i realized i wasn't wearing a bra. this is not an uncommon event, but the thought of "oh, i'm not wearing a bra" came to mind. it brought up questions in my mind.
- wouldn't it be great to never wear a bra except to run? i love the feeling of sports bra, something invigorating and strong hidden in those straps...plus the tan line is envy-worthy
- what if you could get the support (the nice cup shape) of a bra without wearing one?
- do band-aids suffice as a proper cover while wearing tanktops?
- how do i get smaller boobs?
- why do guys really think these things are so incredible?!! they are disgusting.
- not wearing a bra is like being naked, under your clothes....right?
anyway, i honestly was thinking about how awesome it was to not have to wear a bra. they are annoying.
carter is in town, so that means anna will not be hanging out with me. WAY TO GO ANNA THANKS FOR RUINING MY WEEKEND :P now we can't snuggle or cuddle or work on our scrapbook or dance in the kitchen or make cupcakes or paint our toenails... great, i literally have no life without you. JUST THANKS! :P haha.
noodes.

a great 8-miles
haley, anna, simone, and i ran 8 miles today. haley had 10 miles and her and anna ran a little faster than simone and i wanted to run. however, this allowed simone and i to spend some quality time together just chatting/running. i love that the summer has allowed me to get to know simone on a more personal basis.
also, i was able to just think a lot. lately i have posted some things on my blog that cause some people to worry. i'm fine, honestly. i post on here because becoming vulnerable to the 30+ people who read my blog gives hope, comfort, confiedence, and advice. also it is a chance to evaluate myself personally, something that i believe shows strength and courage to admit things when something is going on. thank you to those people who have read my blog and given me support. i appreciate those people who have no tried to tear me down emotionally.we ran south farm. according to mapmyrun, i ran 8.4 miles and averaged 6:57 min/mile. i am pleased with this. still a little faster than i would like to go, but today was supposed to be a quality pace. i know i could slow down if i wanted to but i just can't some times.
i was very hungry after the run so i made this delicious bagel sandwich. it was good. i'm also drinking city bagel coffee (which is where i picked up the day old bagels for $2!)
i am watching "beyond ordinary" on TLC and it's about these 2 savant twins. it is really interesting. i need to get ready for class. i lost track of time.

8-mile pwnage and blackened salmon
simone, anna, christina, and i destroyed 8 miles this morning (simmy went 9 and christina went 5). straight up pwned it with dropping below 7-min pace for the second half (while starting at 7:20 and dropping to 7:05 in the first 30 minutes). it was a hard comfortable. we took ice baths in the downstairs training room. it is nicer than the track training room, but not nearly as homey.
i made a blackened salmon with an onion/hummus stuff portabello mushroom last night for dinner. it was delicious. i'm going to try more inventions tonight.
